About the StoryThe comic takes place in the future, centered around a league of unified planets who simply call themselves "the republic." The story specifically follows the lives of several members of the Republic Space Fleet for Exploration and Defense aboard a starship named Praetor (designation RFV-7502).About the ComicPraetor was started in July of 2004 when Lucas Trent decided to create an all-3D comic with a science fiction theme. Rachel Victor, Warren Jurin, and Vor were the first characters completed, thus becoming the main focus of the initial plot. The Quaestor assignment plot was originally intended to stall for time while Lucas was thinking on a design for the Praetor, but it soon became an important plot to allow character and future plot development. Aside from the minor characters such as Admiral Augustus Bronte and Anna Orwis (formerly Anna Green), Rachel's academy rival, the first real characters suddenly came to life at the same time, most notably Deborah Thomas, who was based on the chief engineer for a scrapped Star Trek fan fiction story, although she had another name at the time. The real progress and story began when Lucas finished creating all of the lead characters and building several of the sets of the ship. He decided that the story would best be conveyed by someone else while he focused more on illustration, and thus brought in Roland Lowery from Role of the Die The comic itself is created in Poser 5, DAZ Studio, Bryce 5, and Photoshop 7. All models and textures are either original creations of Lucas Trent, public domain, or licensed for commercial use. About the AuthorsLucas Trent (creator, illustrator) is a male student living in Alabama, presently double majoring between Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering with a minor in Music Technology. For info on Roland Lowery (writer) , go here. |
